Prepare Your Project Before Requesting a Quote
A clearer brief creates a better first discussion
Before requesting a quote, collect the information you already know about your product and target market. You do not need every answer to start a conversation, but a clear brief helps the team identify the right questions and next steps.
Use the checklist below for a sports, lifestyle, packaging or private-label product project.
1. Product basics
- Product category
- Product name or working name
- Intended use and usage scenario
- Target customer or buyer
- Reference product, image or link
- New product, existing product or replacement item
2. Target market and sales channel
- Target country or region
- Intended sales channel
- Retail, wholesale, distribution, private label or e-commerce model
- Known product or packaging requirements for the market
- Amazon marketplace and destination, if applicable
3. Product specifications
- Dimensions
- Material
- Capacity or weight, where relevant
- Color and finish
- Functional requirements
- Product variations or sizes
- Tolerance or quality requirements that are important to you
If a specification is not final, mark it as a working requirement rather than presenting it as approved.
4. Customization requirements
- Logo placement
- Printing method or preferred finish
- Color references, including Pantone where relevant
- Product color and packaging color
- Accessories or components
- Custom straw caps or straws, where relevant
- Inserts, labels, hang tags or other supporting items
5. Packaging requirements
- Primary product packaging
- Outer carton or shipping packaging
- Packaging dimensions
- Protective materials or inserts
- Labels and barcodes
- FNSKU or carton labels, if applicable
- Packaging artwork and dieline status
For artwork preparation, review the Artwork Guidelines before sending final files.
6. Files and references to attach
- Product reference images
- Dimension drawings
- AI, PDF or PSD artwork files
- Brand guidelines
- Logo files
- Packaging dieline, if available
- Reference samples or competitor examples
- Current labels or documents, if they are authorized for sharing
Do not send confidential customer, order or personal information unless it is necessary and properly authorized.
7. Quantity and project stage
- Estimated quantity or quantity range
- Sample, pilot or bulk-production stage
- Number of product variations
- Whether sizes or colors will be mixed
- Desired project window
- Whether a sample has already been approved
Do not worry if the quantity is not final. State what is known and identify what still needs discussion.
8. Quality and documentation
- Required sample reference
- Critical appearance or measurement points
- Inspection requirements
- Third-party inspection preference
- Factory or product documents needed
- Target-market compliance questions
- Packaging and labeling checks
The Quality & Inspection page explains the types of information that may be reviewed. The applicable inspection scope and documents must be confirmed for each project.
9. Logistics requirements
- Destination country or region
- Delivery address or destination type, when available
- Preferred shipping method
- Own freight forwarder or logistics partner
- Carton and labeling requirements
- Required customs or shipment documents
- Amazon FBA destination, if applicable
Review Logistics Services for the information needed to discuss delivery coordination.
