Artwork Guidelines

To ensure your custom packaging, labels, and branded materials print perfectly, please prepare your design files according to the guidelines below. Following these standards helps us avoid delays, extra costs, and disappointing results.

πŸ“© Need help? If you don't have a designer, our team can create print-ready artwork for you β€” starting at $30/design. Contact us or check our Design Services.

1. File Formats & Requirements

Please provide your artwork in one of the following editable vector formats:

  • Adobe Illustrator (.ai)
  • PDF (.pdf)
  • Vector (.eps)

We do not accept raster images (JPG, PNG, GIF) as print-ready files.

2. Resolution

All raster images placed within your artwork must be at least 300 DPI at actual print size. Low-resolution images will appear pixelated when printed.

3. Color Mode

All artwork must be set to CMYK color mode. Designs created in RGB will be converted automatically, which may cause color shifting. If you require specific brand colors, please specify Pantone (PMS) numbers.

4. Bleed & Safe Area

To avoid white edges after cutting:

  • Add a 3mm bleed on all sides of your design.
  • Keep all important text and logos at least 3mm inside the trim line (safe area).

5. Fonts & Outlines

All text must be converted to outlines/curves before saving. In Adobe Illustrator, select all text and go to Type > Create Outlines. This prevents font substitution issues.

6. Dielines & Layout

If your design includes a dieline (cut line):

  • Do NOT merge the dieline with your artwork layer.
  • For stickers/labels: include a kiss-cut line (inner cut) and contour cut line (outer cut) on separate layers if applicable.
  • For boxes: indicate fold lines (dashed), glue tabs, and tuck flaps clearly.

πŸ“₯ Need a dieline? We provide free dieline templates after order confirmation. Request yours here.

7. Special Finishes: Foil, Emboss, UV, Spot Gloss

If your design includes special processes, you must provide separate layers:

Process Layer Name Color Notes
Hot Foil / Foil Stamp Foil Spot color (e.g., Gold 100%) Show exact area to be foiled
Emboss / Deboss Emboss Spot color Indicate raised (emboss) or recessed (deboss)
Spot UV SpotUV Spot color, 100% K Only on areas needing gloss; rest matte
Silk Screen (on dark bags) Screen Spot color For fabric/non-paper surfaces

πŸ“ Each special process = one additional layer in your file. Name layers clearly. Do not combine multiple finishes on one layer.

8. File Naming Convention

Please name your files clearly so we can identify them quickly:

BrandName_ProductType_Version_ColorMode.ai

Examples:

  • AcmeCo_BoxV1_Front_CMYK.ai
  • Bloom_Label_Round50mm_PMS186.pdf
  • ZenFit_ToteBag_BothSides_SPOTUV+FOIL.ai

9. Common Mistakes to Avoid

❌ Mistake βœ… Correct Approach
Designed in RGB Convert to CMYK before exporting
No bleed Add 3mm bleed on all sides
Text too close to edge Keep β‰₯3mm inside trim line
Fonts not outlined Type > Create Outlines
JPG/PNG with text Recreate text in vector (AI/PDF)
Dieline merged with art Keep dieline on separate layer
Low-res logo from website Request original vector from designer
"Can you just fix it?" Provide proper files β€” we charge $30 for file correction
